Stop theghost buses.

Hudson Link buses cancel without notice. We're logging every ghost bus so NYSDOT and the next operator can't pretend they're fine.

The Problem

Publicly funded commuter buses are silently failing Rockland riders.

01

Buses don't show up.

Scheduled buses are cancelled without notice, especially during peak commuting hours. Riders are stranded daily and miss Metro-North connections with no alternative.

02

The info is wrong.

The app says "3 minutes", then the bus vanishes from the screen. No cancellation alert. And the app data doesn't match the live signs at the stops.

We support the bigger regional transit initiatives underway. These two fixes are what commuters need right now, and they can be done within the current budget.

What we're asking for

Two fixes. Within the current budget.

01
Staff the routes so scheduled buses actually run, prioritizing peak commuting hours.
02
Fix the real-time system so cancellations show immediately.
FOIL filed We filed a Freedom of Information Law request with NYSDOT for the operating contract, the 2025 RFP and bids, and performance records the public can't see. Read more →
Rider stories

What riders are telling us.

A few examples of what we've heard from riders across the H03, H05, and H07 routes.

A husband leaves 30–45 minutes earlier than he needs to, every day, because he can't trust the bus will run. The household plans the whole morning around possible no-shows.

The app counted down from 3 minutes to "no service" without warning. By the time the next bus arrived, she'd waited 40 more minutes, missed her Metro-North connection, and was late to work.

A regular Hudson Link rider for years drove past her own bus stop on the way home. She'd given up on the bus showing and didn't even slow down.
